A set of 96 cards were issued in 1928 by Clarnico (Clarke, Nicholls & Coombs) and H. Poppleton & Sons Limited simply titled “Footballers”.
The Tottenham players included in the series were Tommy Clay, Arthur Grimsdell and Fanny Walden.
The cards had mainly plain backs and are very rare and were.
We are grateful to Terry Newman who sent photos of the cards featuring Fanny Walden and Tommy Clay from his collection, while we found a picture of the Arthur Grimsdell card on the Cartophilic website that is a mine of information on card collection.
