Panini released a sticker collection for the 1988-1989 season titled “Panini’s Football 88”.
Promising to be the “biggest, the most brilliant and most interesting collection of its kind anywhere” the album contained a two page spread for each First Division club, with a fact file of clubs details and honours, a shiny club crest sticker, a team photo and 14 stickers of the club’s squad with a short biography on each player.
The introductory pages display the badges of the Football League, the Scottish Football League, the Professional Footballers Association and the Scottish Professional Footballers Association. the two central pages explain how Panini is involved in football, sponsoring family enclosures and the PFA awards, backing Bobby Charlton Sports schools and arranging swap shops for collectors to exchange their stickers.
There are two pages dedicated to international players who they say that “They’re On Top Of The World”, two pages feature managers and players who are “2nd Division Heroes” and there are team photos and a shiny club badge sticker for each club in that division. Two pages are filled with caricatures of the “Soccer Supermen” of British football and there are pages for each Scottish top flight clubs that have stickers for the team, a shiny club badge and 14 stickers of the manager and players.
