The Panini sticker collection for the 1990-1991 season following the 1990 World Cup finals in Italy was “Football 1991”.

There were a total of 561 stickers in this collection by Panini.  Being a World Cup year, there was a page with a 9 sticker montage of the tournament’s top scorer Toto Schillaci, although you had to guess the name of the player in a competition to win tickets to the League Cup final.

Clubs in the English and Scottish top divisions had two pages each with space for stickers for a large shiny club badge, a team photo, 14 player stickers, one of the manager and two blank spaces to put stickers of players transferred to the club in question.

The album also included a 24 sticker Italia ’90 poster to complete with “Pictures that have never been seen before”.

When taking your album to a match, autographs strips had been printed that could be cut out and stuck next to the sticker of the player in the Panini album.

There was also a funny photo sticker for each of 10 months that comprised a caption competition, with the monthly winner receiving 120 stickers.

Each club page had a action photos formed of two stickers but we only got one half of the Spurs photo of a Gary Lineker headed goal against Coventry City.

Spurs did feature in the action photos on the Manchester United and Norwich City pages though, as well as the Nottingham Forest page, although, again, we only have one half of the photo.

The final section of the album featured a competition that had photos from 10 months of the year that were used for collectors to put a caption to.
Paul Gascoigne and Gary Lineker on England duty were in the sticker used for June.
