19.11.1983 The Reserves came out 4-1 winners over Bristol Rovers at White Hart Lane in the Football Combination.

Spurs raced out of the blocks with Mike McCabe on the score-sheet twice in the early stages to see Spurs go 2-0 ahead, with Garry Brooke and Robert Brace netting in the second half, before Rovers grabbed a consolation goal.  The team could not maintain the level of play they exhibited in the first half and ran out of steam around 70 minutes.  Trevor Wilkinson was making his Combination debut, but had to be substituted after suffering an ankle injury.

15.11.1980 Tottenham’s Reserves played out a 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers at Cheshunt in the Football Combination fixture with Ian Crook finding the target for Spurs.

27.10.1979 Bristol Rovers were at home as Spurs travelled to the South-West for a Football Combination fixture, which they drew 1-1.

24.02.1979 Tottenham had their first home defeat of the season inflicted on them by Bristol Rovers who earned a 2-1 Football Combination win at White Hart Lane.

Spurs started well, with Joe Simmonds shooting wide, but Rovers took the lead in the 13th minute with a goal from Gary Mabbutt, who doubled the lead in the 32nd minute.

John Gorman pulled a goal back halfway into the second half, but the performance was below par and Bristol Rovers’ was well deserved.

17.10.1978 Bristol Rovers Reserves met Spurs Reserves in the Football Combination at Eastville with Tottenham emerging 5-2 winners.

A Stuart Beavon hat-trick was added to by Tony Galvin and Chris Jones to rack up Tottenham’s five goals.

31.10.1977 Just nine days after conceding nine goals for the First Team, Bristol Rovers’ 19-year old goalkeeper Glyn Jones returned to White Hart Lane to play for the reserves in a 1-1 Football Combination draw.

30.10.1971 Spurs Reserves were held to a 2-2 home draw by Bristol Rovers Reserves, dropping their first home point in the process.

Spurs could have gone ahead in the first half, failing to take the chances they created and they paid for that a couple of minutes after the interval, when Bob Brown hit a shot from 22 yards past Terry Lee.

Tottenham pulled level through Mike Dillon soon afterwards but the Pirates stole the lead once more, as Peter Higgins hit a shot across Lee to make it 2-1.  Spurs pushed for an equaliser, but had to wait until Graeme Souness ran forward with the ball from a deep position and played it wide to David Jenkins, who crossed for Ray Clarke to nod home to make the final score 2-2.

25.08.1962 Spurs beat Bristol Rovers reserves 5-0 in a Football Combination match at White Hart Lane.

There was a hat-trick from Terry Dyson and two goals from Frank Saul as the Spurs side cruised to victory.

03.01.1987 A 3-1 win for Tottenham’s South-East Counties Division 2 side over Bristol Rovers saw them back to winning ways.

Rovers provided tough opposition, but Spurs always had the edge after Tommy Fitzgerald gave the team a fourth minute lead with a curling shot.  The away side hit back with 35 minutes gone, as Stewart Henderson converted from close range.  Shaun Murray looked odds on to score until a defender got himself in the way to deflect the shot for a corner.

Fitzgerald had a good chance, but headed narrowly wide, although shortly after Murray rounded the keeper to score on 65 minutes, with the third Spurs goal coming six minutes later, as Andy Theodosiou powered in Murray’s cross with his header.

01.12.1979 Bristol Rovers Juniors travelled to Cheshunt for a SECL Division 2 match that they drew 2-2 with Spurs Juniors, for whom Mark Bowen and Kerry Dixon scored.

23.09.1978 The Spurs Juniors saw a two goal lead over Bristol Rovers evaporate before they responded to record a 5-4 win in the SECL Division 2 at Cheshunt.

Two goals inside the first two minutes saw Spurs ease into the lead, but Rovers fought back to level at 2-2 before half-time.  The second half saw the visitors score twice, but a late flurry of goals ensured Spurs took the points.  The Tottenham goals were scored by Terry Gibson 2, Jimmy Bolton, Alex Hamill, and Peter Southey.
