Originally produced to cover the years 1882 to 1988, subsequent editions of Bob Goodwin’s massive piece of work have been published covering later years.
The research that has gone into such publications is stupendous, but the author has turned it into a labour of love that make these books essential reference points for the enquiring mind of a Spurs fan or to settle an argument about who played when or where.
Bob Goodwin’s masterworks will be well known to Tottenham supporters. The thoroughness of his books make them essential additions to the collections and the 2007 updated version of his two previous efforts to catalogue the line-ups, results and scorers of all the Spurs games ever came out to coincide with the 125th anniversary of the formation of the club.
As well as having an in depth breakdown of all the matches Tottenham have played, Bob has added some additional parts to the book with sections on the managers, history of the club, the grounds, famous matches and his choice of the 100 top players of all time who played for Spurs. Each season also has a “Did You Know ?” interesting fact throw in to add to the pages already bursting with information. Later versions also include records of players who made their debuts in each season, players individual stats while with the club and records of all the international players who played for their countries during their stay at Spurs.
As always, the book is a mine of information for checking those long forgotten matches against Middlesbrough that you were sure whether you went to but can’t quite recall the attendance of. A vital resource for any Spurs fanatic and a timely update for a new edition of the much sought after classic book.
