Spurs v Derby County notes
. | |

. | |
28.04.1909 | The second draw of the season gave Tottenham an advantage in the League. With County still having to play WBA and Bolton Wanderers, they achieved the results that gave Tottenham second place in the league by 1/50th of a goal ahead of West Bromwich Albion and thus gain promotion to Division 1. |

HIs two years at the County Ground were followed by one at Wolves and four at Wigan Athletic. After a loan spell at Charlton, Nathan joined Derby in 2020 with his reputation as a dogged defender and keen over-lapping full-back made him a popular player. Left Pride Park with 80 appearances and two goals to move to Charlotte FC in the US in 2022. |
. | |
Tom Carroll | Technically astute midfielder who progressed through the Scurs Academy, who appeared 41 times for Spurs scoring four goals, but his slight build and the competition for places saw him go out on loan regularly. One loan was to Derby County on 30th January 2012 until the end of the season, featuring regularly making 12 appearances and finding the net once before injury cut short his loan. Left Spurs in 2017 for Swansea City and later played for QPR and Ipswich Town. |
. | |
John Chiedozie | Signed by Notts County from Leyton Orient in 1981 for £600,000, flying Nigerian winger John Chiedozie played over 100 matches for the Magpies before leaving for Spurs for £425,000 in 1984. After 75 matches and 11 goals, Chiedozie suffered a serious back condition and left to join the Rams in August 1988 on a free transfer. Hampered by the injury, he only made a few appearances for Derby, before moving to Notts County and then Chesterfield where he appeared a handful of times before retiring to live in the New Forest area. |
. | |

Made only two appearances for the Sky Blues before he was on the move again to White Hart Lane in 1928. Scored on his debut and scored twice in three league games in his one season with Spurs, then went on to play for Grantham Town before his travels took him as a coach to Sporting Gijon, Valencia, Racing Santander, Penarol, Young Fellows Zurich, Sporting Lisbon and Vitoria SC. |

Ended his career at Guildford City. |
. | |
Grzegorz Rasiak | After playing for four clubs in his native Poland, Grzegorgz Rasiak signed for Derby on a free transfer in September 2004. Scored 18 goals in 41 matches but when The Rams failed to gain promotion to the Premier League, their financial situation meant that they had to sell players and Spurs bought Rasiak for a fee that could have risen to £3 million in August 2005. It was a bit of a panic buy and it didn’t work out for either party, with the Polish international making only eight appearances without a goal, so he left in February 2006 on loan to Southampton ,which was made permanent in May 2006 for £2 million. Spent further time on loan at Bolton and Watford before joining Reading and then playing in Cyprus. Returned to play out his career in Poland. |

. | |
Simon Webster | Tall central defender who came through the youth system at Tottenham and could only make five appearances with one goal before he went on loan a few times before he left for Huddersfield Town in 1985 for £15,000. Went on to play for Sheffield United, Charlton and West Ham, making three appearances on loan at Derby from Upton Park until a second leg break forced him to retire. Went into physiotherapy at Gillingham after retiring. |
. | |
Harvey White | Young Spurs midfielder left on loan to spend January to May 2023 at Derby County, playing 15 times for The rams. |
. | |
Vic Woodley | Chelsea goalkeeper, who played over 250 matches for the Pensioners, but during World War II he made guest appearances for Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion, turning out once for Spurs in 1940. Left Chelsea to join Bath City, but in 1946 Derby County’s goalkeeping injuries saw them bring Woodley in and he went on to play in the FA Cup Final of that year, with the Rams beating Charlton Athletic. Moved back to Bath City, where he was player-manager. Vic Woodley died in 1978. |
