Midfielder 2022-
Full name : – Yves BISSOUMA
Born on 30th August 1996 in Issia, Ivory Coast.

Having been linked with a move to Tottenham for 18 months and also being rumoured be interest a number of top clubs in England and Arsenal, Yves Bissouma’s signing for Tottenham came a little out of the blue. With Christian Eriksen available on a free transfer following his short term contract with Brentford after his recovery from collapsing at the European Championships in 2021, the focus in the media was on the Dane’s return to Spurs, but the move for Bissouma for £25 million plus a potential £5 million in add-ons was a swoop perhaps other clubs were not expecting.
Since joining Brighton from Lille, the Malian international midfielder has impressed with his performances in the Premier League giving Brighton a solid base to make progress year on year. The club’s advances had been hindered by their lack of potency in attack, but Yves won appreciation for his all-energy displays and his ball-winning attributes. And it was these assets that Antonio Conte wanted to bring to the club and strengthen that area of the team with Champions League football on the horizon.
Born in the Ivory Coast, he was attached to the Majestic SC Academy before he moved to Mali and spent five years at the Jean-Marc Guillou Academy, when he started playing for SC Real Bakamo. After two years, he was signed by Lille and he made the move to Europe in 2016, initially playing for the French side’s second team, but he soon signed a professional contract and made the first XI. Settling into Ligue 1, he spent two years at Lille before Brighton brought him to the Premier League for an undisclosed fee, putting him straight into the first team at the start of the 208-2019 season.
Not afraid of a tackle, he has racked up yellow cards and the odd red, Yves was often the catalyst for the Seagulls when he won the ball and turned defence into attack. He didn’t score many goals, but when he did, they tended to be hits from long-range and he got Brighton’s goal in a 3-1 defeat at the THS in the FA Cup Fourth Round. In what turned out to be one of his last games for the Sussex club, he dominated Manchester United’s midfield in a 4-0 win at the Amex that was part of the club’s highest Premier League finish in ninth, with a record PL points total for them of 51.
An athletic, tenacious and dynamic midfielder, Bissouma is effective at breaking up attacks and switching play to the other end. With Bentancur, Skipp and Hojbjerg in the defensive midfield roles, Yves will vie with them for a place in the starting XI and hopefully be able to add some goals from that section of the team.
