Danny Foster was a strong central defender raised through the youth system, who failed to dislodge any of the more experienced players ahead of him in the queue for the first team. Spotted playing for local side Brimsdown Rovers by Terry Agambar, Danny was given a trial and kept on as a nine-year old. Worked his way though the youth system, but reached the reserves where he formed a good partnership in the middle of the back four with Ronnie Henry in the youth and reserve teams, but had the likes of Ledley King, Anthony Gardner and Jonathan Woodgate in front of him and suffering a few injuries, he was released at the end of the two-year professional deal he signed in 2002. So, forced to leave to look for first team football, he joined Dagenham & Redbridge in the non-league Conference division, but he helped them to reach the Football League as Conference champions in 2007.
Was a regular as the Daggers established themselves in the league and pushed their way up the League Two table, but in 2009 Danny was released to allow him to join Brentford, where he had a season at Griffin Park.
A change of management led to Foster being released once more and this time he moved on to join Wycombe Wanderers, who went up to League One at the end of the season as runners-up. On 31st May 2011, Danny signed a new two year deal with the Chairboys. After suffering shoulder and knee injuries, Danny was forced to retire from playing the game in November 2013 after three seasons with the Wanderers.
In May 2019, Foster took up the role of assistant manager to Steve Clark at Finchley-Wingate, but both left the club by mutual consent in September of that year. In 2024, Danny was a qualified Health and Safety Officer working for Borough Engineering Services Limited.
