Full name : – Oliver BURTON
Born on 27th May 1879 in Derby, Derbyshire, England.
Height : 1.75m (5′ 9″)

Oliver Burton came to Spurs in October 1901, following a trial with the club, originally as a wing half but moved to left back, where he became a fixture in the last Southern League season and the first league season. Burton had spent a long time in the reserves before establishing himself in the first team.
The initial trial had come about on the recommendation of his older brother, John who had signed for Spurs from Chatham earlier in 1901. Ollie’s debut was in the reserves against Maidstone United on October 26th of that year. Having impressed the hierarchy at Spurs, he was signed on professional terms in November.
Having started out as an outside left, Burton moved into defence for a reserve match v West Ham in February 1903 and in the following September, he made his Southern League debut v QPR in the full back position. He featured alongside John in the reserves and the first team during his spell with Spurs, originally ousting his brother from the half-back position before slotting in behind him in defence.
Selected for the first team in October 1907, Ollie ended up playing 65 Southern League matches, 45 for the first team in other leagues, five in the FA Cup and making 38 League appearances. He played over 150 times for the reserves.
In October 1909 he took over a newsagents and tobacconists in West Green Road, Tottenham and his last first team game came later in October against Notts County as the First Division opposition tested his abilities, but he continued to turn out for the reserves, finally ending his Spurs career in April 1910.
Ollie Burton died on 20th January 1929 in a hospital at St. Pancras, Central London.
