Full name : –  Joseph Peter Rodon

Weight :   kg  (st  lbs)

A promising young talent, Joe Rodon had won many plaudits attracting the attention of a number of clubs, but it was Tottenham Hotspur who moved for the 22 year old on the last day of the EFL transfer window, paying a fee that could rise to £15 million.

Having held a season ticket at the Liberty Stadium, Joe Rodon started training with the South Wales club as an 8 year old, working his way through their youth system.  Having played for the Swans Under-21 side in the EFL Trophy, he was loaned out to Cheltenham Town to gain first team experience and ready him for promotion to Swansea’s first eleven.  On his return to Swansea, his opportunity arrived when four defenders left the club in the summer of 2019 and he stepped up, acquitting himself very well and making a place in the side his own.

Standing at 6′ 4″, his height in a great asset in aerial battles, but he has a good eye for a pass out of defence and is happy to play out of the back, being comfortable on the ball.  His two seasons of Championship football saw him handed a place in the Wales international side, where he looked at ease, winning seven caps by the time he was snapped up by Spurs, to join up with his Welsh team-mates Ben Davies and Gareth Bale, who gave him glowing recommendations.  While still raw in terms of top flight football, the club will be hoping to bring him through to the first team, with Jan Vertonghen having left to join Benfica and Cameron Carter-Vickers and Juan Foyth having been loaned out for the season.
