21.08.1971 Division 1     Home     Won      4-1

Spurs ran out 4-1 winners with the Huddersfield goal coming from behind after Jimmy Lawson had put Huddersfield ahead.   Martin Chivers rose at the far post to a right wing cross to head home past Dennis Clarke on the line at the Paxton Road end with seven minutes on the clock.

Alan Gilzean got Tottenham’s second goal of the match, which came after 22 minutes and also the third, when he shot home, following Tony Want’s long free-kick that confused the Town goalkeeper David Lawson, leaving Gilly the relatively simple task of shooting past Geoff Hutt on the goal-line with 34 minutes gone.

Chivers rounded off the scoring with a fourth.

21.04.1956 Division 1     Home     Lost      1-2.

Huddersfield arrived at White Hart Lane bottom of the First Division, but Tottenham were only three places better off and perhaps that was the reason it was a poor game.

Johnny Brooks was brought down in the penalty area and Tommy Harmer scored from the spot to give Tottenham a half-time lead.

A headed own goal by Maurice Norman allowed the Terriers to draw level and they then went ahead when Dave Hickson ran past Harry Clarke to fire a winner past Ron Reynolds.  Huddersfield were reliant on their goalkeeper Harry Fearnley to turn in a fine display to keep Spurs at bay.

02.04.1952 Division 1     Home     Won     1-0

A single controversial goal settled this League match at White Hart Lane, with vital points being lost by Huddersfield Town, who were relegated at the end of the season.

Eddie Baily took a last minute corner at the Paxton Road end, but his cross hit the referee on the back and rebounded to Baily.  Thinking quickly, he put the ball back into the goal-mouth and it was headed home by Len Duquemin.  Despite protests from the Terriers’ players, who rightly put forward the point that Baily had played the ball twice before an opponent had touched it, the goal was allowed to stand, as the referee was unaware of what had gone on behind him.

19.09.1925 Division 1     Home     Drew      5-5.

A match four weeks into the season which introduced the new offside law of two opposition players needing to be between the striker and the goal instead of the previous ruling of three players, saw goals galore at White Hart Lane as Spurs played out a 5-5 draw with Huddersfield Town.

In wind and rain, 22,000 fans saw a feast of football, as Alex Jackson gave the visitors the lead after five minutes, before Frank Osborne set up Jack Elkes to equalise. Town went ahead again a few minutes later when Jackson hit his second and that was the score at half-time.

It was early in the second half that Jimmy Dimmock curled a shot that caught the keeper Taylor out and Spurs went ahead for the first time when Tommy Clay scored from the penalty spot. Huddersfield pulled it back to 3-3 with a goal from Billy Cook (who later joined Spurs), but a quick-fire two goals in two minutes from Osborne and Elkes put Tottenham 5-3 ahead and looking odds on for a home win.

However, Huddersfield threw everything at the Spurs goal and Jackson completed his hat-trick when he forced the ball over the line from close range, with George Brown completing the scoring with a late header to tie things up at 5-5.
