Memorabilia – R & J Hill Famous Footballers

R & J Hill was a tobacco company who put out cigarette cards and in 1912 in their Famous Footballers series and in the set at Number 4 was Tottenham’s Robert Steel.  The card was 65mm x 38mm.

The company issued a set of 50 + and additional 25 cards in the Famous Footballers series in 1939, which included G. W. ‘Willie’ Hall (number 28).

The company issued a set of 50 cards (in two releases – Series A and Series B) in the Popular Footballer series in 1935, which included Willie Evans (number 13), George Hunt (number 19) and Arthur Rowe (number 26).

The company issued a set of 50 cards in the Famous Footballer series in 1923, which included Fanny Walden (number 40) and Tommy Clay (number 46).

The company issued a set of 60 cards in the Footballer Captains series in 1906, which included Sandy Tait (number 54).
