31.08.1939 | This was one of three games played by Spurs before the 1939-1940 season was abandoned because of the start of World War II. The result was expunged as fixtures were re-organised with Spurs put into the new competition of the Football League South during war-time and Newport County played in the South-West Division of the War League. |
