31.08.1939 This was one of three games played by Spurs before the 1939-1940 season was abandoned because of the start of World War II.  The result was expunged as fixtures were re-organised with Spurs put into the new competition of the Football League South during war-time and Newport County played in the South-West Division of the War League.

Anthony Hudson Spurs reserve team coach appointed in 2010, Hudson (son of former Chelsea player Alan) was recruited as the new manager of Newport County in April 2011, finishing the season in seventh.  However, one win in seven games at the start of the following season saw him sacked on 28th September 2011.  Went on to manage the national teams of Bahrain and New Zealand, as well as Colarado Rapids from 2017-2019.
