05.05.1994 Premier League      Away     Won     2-0

With both sides in the nether regions of the Premier League, this late season match was almost a relegation decider with only one game to come after the Boundary Park meeting.

Played on a mud-heap of a pitch, Spurs took an aerial route, with Teddy Sheringham winning a header to flick it on for Ronny Rosenthal moving into the right hand corner of the area.  He held the ball before rolling a pass into Vinny Samways’ run that allowed the midfielder to take a touch and hit it with his left foot, leaving Paul Gerrard unable to react as the ball flew in to the keeper’s right from just outside the penalty area in the 38th minute.

Enjoying a good spell of possession in the Oldham half, Spurs were making the home players chase the ball, but out on the right wing, Rosenthal found Austin running inside him and his low shot from 18 yards out was pushed away by the keeper to his right, where David Howells scooped the ball over the claggy surface with his left foot to find the net from inside the six-yard box.

Deep into injury time, a long ball into the box dropped for Steve Redmond, but his low shot was smothered by Thorstvedt with a low save to deny Oldham even a consolation goal as their fate was sealed..

17.04.1993 Premier League     Home     Won     4-1.

Spurs had to come from a goal behind to win 4-1 against Oldham Athletic at White Hart Lane in the Premier League.

Darren Beckford gave Oldham a good start with a headed goal that the away side preserved until half-time.  A left wing corner was headed back into the goalmouth for Beckford to bundle the ball in at the far post with 25 minutes on the clock, but Spurs were level in the 58th minute with Teddy Sheringham sending Paul Gerrard the wrong way in converting a penalty awarded when Neil Pointon handled a right wing corner.  Sheringham then created the next Tottenham goal with a right wing cross for Darren Anderton to head into the net with 70 minutes gone.

In the 82nd minute, Teddy Sheringham – on his 300th league appearance – scored a second penalty, this time putting it into the other corner of the net, given when Nick Barmby was brought down by Mike Milligan as he raced into the box.  A fine second half performance by Spurs was rounded off with Andy Turner’s side-foot finish in the 84th minute, set up by Sheringham, who had got away on the left and rolled the ball across for the youngster to score.

19.12.1992 Premier League     Away     Lost     1-2.

A last minute Ian Olney goal gave Oldham three vital points in this Premier League encounter.

The home side went into the lead through Graeme Sharp’s goal in the first half, which came as a result of Richard Jobson’s header from a free-kick providing the striker the opportunity to head in a 29th minute opener.

After the turnaround, Spurs got back on level terms when Paul Allen ran away down the right and crossed for Gary Mabbutt to head back into the goalmouth.  Nick Barmby headed the ball down to where Teddy Sheringham stood unmarked and from six yards out, the forward equalised in the 61st minute.  Olney’s late winner was a blow for Spurs, who hoped to bring something home from Boundary Park, but the lanky striker’s header from a last minute free-kick left Spurs disappointed.

09.01.1988 FA Cup Third Round     Away      Won      4-2

On the Boundary Park plastic pitch, Spurs played some slick football to over-come a determined Oldham Athletic side and progress to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.

Barlow and Wright linked up on the Oldham left wing to provide a shooting chance for the latter, which deflected off a Spurs defender and needed pushing over the top by Tony Parks.  However, it was Spurs who went ahead, with Ossie Ardiles enjoying the smooth playing surface and he drifted through midfield to pass to Clive Allen on his right.  Turning to leave his marker and come inside, he produced a delicate left-footed chip from 25 yards out that sailed over the keeper and into the net with Tottenham’s first shot on goal in the seventh minute.  A run through the middle of the pitch by Mike Cecere brought a foul from Gary Mabbutt 25 yards out and Parks had to gather the shot that came in at the second attempt, such was the power of Irwin’s effort.

A quick free-kick sent Paul Moran away on the left and his back-heel to Chris Waddle gave the winger the opportunity to bamboozle Irwin before playing a near post cross for Clive Allen to get in front of his marker to glance home with his head to make it 2-0.  Mike Smith’s long throw was cleared back to him and from outside the right side of the box, he headed back into the goalmouth, where it eluded two team-mates.  It ran through to the far post, where Parks had chased it, but Wright headed it back across him, with the ball going in off the post.

A sloppy back pass from Andy Linighan conceded a corner just before half time and when Waddle took it, it bounced off Allen’s chest for Mitchell Thomas to poke it high into the net from close range.  it was another Waddle corner that brought the fourth goal for Tottenham.  Playing it short to Ardiles and taking the return pass before cutting in from the right, he fired a powerful curling drive that beat Goram into his top right corner to produce a fine finish.

A long free-kick was headed on by Andy Ritchie for Cecere to Cruyff turn Thomas and fire a low shot just inside Park’s left hand post to pull a goal back for the Latics, .

Tottenham ran out 5-1 winners in this Second Division meeting, with John Duncan opening the scoring when he slid in to score and the goal was added to by a Martin Robinson header.  Duncan made it three just before the half-time break, then Peter Taylor netted a brace in the second half – rounding the keeper and then shooting past him for his second, although the shine was taken off the win with Keith Osgood’s ligament injury that ended his run of 102 consecutive appearances.  The single strike for Oldham came from striker Alan Young.
