23.09.1985 Spurs were undone by two Kevin Godfrey goals in front of a 13,828 crowd, as Orient took a 2-0 lead from this League Cup Second Round first leg tie.

The links between the Orient side and Spurs were strong, with Shaun Brooks’ father Johnny having represented Tottenham for six years in the 1950s and there were two ex-Tottenham players in the O’s side in Chris Jones and Pat Corbett.  It was forward Kevin Godfrey who was the star of the home side, scoring two goals that gave the O’s victory – one of which saw him through, one-on-one with the Spurs keeper, finishing well by slipping the ball past Ray Clemence.

01.10.1977
A tricky wind caused both teams a bit of trouble, but in the 55th minute, Spurs took the lead in this Division 2 meeting at Brisbane Road.

Neil McNab played in Terry Naylor away on the right wing and he picked out Peter Taylor, who dived in to nod home for 1-0.  Spurs also had a good shout for a penalty when Martin Robinson was felled by Phil Hoadley, but the ref waved play on.

The lead only lasted three minutes though and Joe Mayo’s header drew the match level at 1-1, which is how the game finished.
