22.11.1989 There were seven first-teamers in the Oxford United reserve side, but Spurs Reserves produced one of the best displays of the season to win 2-0 at the Manor Ground.

Dominating play with good passing football, Spurs went ahead inside the half-hour with Phil Gray scoring a spectacular volley.  Oxford started the second half with purpose, but met a determined Tottenham defence and Bobby Mims made a couple of very good saves to keep them out, leaving a left-footed volley from the boot of Guy Butters to seal the 2-0 victory.

19.08.1972 Oxford United Reserves gained a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane with Spurs Reserves in the Football Combination.

Despite a lacklustre performance, Chris McGrath could have put Tottenham into the lead when he got onto a ball that got away from an Oxford defender, but when one-on-one with Kevin Thomas, the keeper came out to grab the ball at his feet. Spurs made a number of chances and scored one through Keith Osgood’s 36th minute header. It took only four minutes for Oxford United to equalise when Ray Pickett scored.

The second half failed to produce many goalmouth incidents with a Graeme Souness free-kick and a low Ray Clarke shot were the only efforts which Thomas had to deal with and they did not exert him, leaving the score 1-1 at the finish.

22.02.1997 it was a very young Spurs Juniors side who welcomed Oxford United to Spurs Lodge in the South-East Counties Division 2 and despite the visitors being placed towards the top of the table, the squad with 10 schoolboy players performed extraordinarily to hold them to a 0-0 draw.

Alton Thelwell and Ledley King played very well alongside Stephen Dobson in defence, while the team managed to hold Oxford comfortably with Daren Twidell instigating some forward moves from midfield, but Spurs were unable to convert any of them.

15.10.1991 Spurs progressed in this Second Round Southern Floodlit Junior Cup tie with a 5-3 away win at Oxford United. Having been tripped for a penalty to be given, Lee Hodges got up to convert from the spot and put Tottenham ahead, but the lead lasted just 30 seconds before the U’s pulled level.  Oxford went ahead with a spectacular volley just five minutes later, although in the 40th minute, Danny Hill curled in a free-kick to make the score 2-2 at the interval.

Straight from the re-start, Andy Turner got Tottenham’s third goal and a Paul Mahorn header from a corner kick made it 4-2.  Oxford had not given up and grabbed a goal to inch closer but five minutes from the end, Hill put the game beyond United’s reach with a fine solo goal.  He rounded three defenders, then chipped the ball delicately over the keeper from a narrow angle to see Tottenham through.
