19.01.1994 Peterborough United took Spurs to a penalty shoot-out to determine this FA Cup Third Round replay at White Hart Lane.

Spurs had gone ahead early on, when Darren Anderton’s speculative long range drive was fumbled by keeper Fred Barber and Nicky Barmby was on hand to pounce on the loose ball and netted from close range.  However, battling Posh pulled level with a goal from Ken Charlery soon after and the score stayed that way until the end of extra time.

The penalty shoot out was level pegging until 16 year old Andy Furnell saw his penalty saved by Ian Walker, leaving Steve Sedgley to power home his spot-kick to take Tottenham through to the Fourth Round.

Spurs v Peterborough United Reserves Match Reports

..
15.01.2013 A Spurs Development team took on Peterborough United in a friendly at Hotspur Way and ran out 8-1 winners, with Alex Pritchard scoring half of the Tottenham goals.   Pritchard was the pick of the players with a low 25 yard shot being saved at full length by the Posh keeper, but Cristian Ceballos was on hand to put away the loose ball in the 11th minute, but that was the only scoring in the first half, despite Spurs dominating the possession.

Spurs pressed hard all over the pitch after the re-start and that created more space and more possession, with Gomelt finding room to cross from the left for Pritchard to guide the ball home to make it 2-0 and then a few minutes after, the winger fired home to finish off Ceballos’ good work on the right flank.   A trademark curling right footed free kick from 20 yards out brought Alex his hat-trick, with another added in the 69th minute, as he ran at the defence before curling home from the edge of the area to make it 5-0.

Jonson Clarke-Harris scored an outrageous 30 yard goal for Peterborough to grab a goal back on 72 minutes, but sub keeper Liam Priestley made amends with a fine stop that then launched a move that ended with Ceballos hitting the top left hand corner of the net with a bending shot from 12 yards out.  Massimo Luongo got forward to round off some passing that opened up Peterborough through the middle and he nudged the ball into the net in the 84th minute, before Shaquile Coulthirst neatly scored from Pritchard’s low pull-back with less than a minute remaining to make the final score 8-1.

Teams :
Spurs –  Jonathan Miles (Liam Priestley 63), Nathan Byrne, Jack Barthram, Ginacarlo Gallifuoco, Kevin Stewart, Massimo Luongo, Dean Parrett (Nabil Bentaleb 70), Tomislav Gomelt, Souleymane Coulibaly (Shaquile Coulthrist 82), Cristian Ceballos, Alex Pritchard
