20.11.2021 Spurs fell to a 0-3 defeat to Southampton Under-18s at Hotspur Way, with all the goals coming in the second half.

A chance came Tottenham’s way late in the first half with Brandon Bryan-Waugh pulling a shot across goal that brought a save from Southampton keeper Eddie Beach, although Southampton had a couple of opportunities but failed to make the most of them.  An early free-kick in the second half from Jamie Donley failed to trouble the keeper and the visitors started to control the game.  Max McKnight cleared a header off the line from substitute Luke Pearce, followed by a break from a Spurs throw by Jimmy-Jay Morgan who then played the ball square from the right wing to Fedel Ross-Lang, who scrambled the ball past Luca Gunter.

Another goal-line clearance, this time by Jahziah Linton from under the crossbar as Morgan’s header looked as though it would go in, saved Spurs from going 0-2 behind but with 20 minutes left, that was the score as Morgan drove a shot from the right corner of area and only a good save from Pearce’s header by Gunter straight after prevented a third.

A flurry of Spurs attacking almost got us on the scoresheet, but Jaden William’s run on goal was stopped by Beach, McKnight’s follow-up shot was blocked and when the ball popped into the air, Donley’s header went just wide.  With the game moving into added time, a final nail was hammered into the Spurs coffin when  a deflection on Dibling’s left foot shot from the 18 yard line flew past Gunter, who was committed to the original path of the shot, making it 3-0.

21.11.2020 Spurs Under-18s took Southampton to task with a 7-0 home win in the Under-18 Premier League.

Alfie Devine got Tottenham off to a quick start, intercepting a loose pass and finishing clinically with only nine minutes gone.  The Saints tried to get level with a set-piece that ended with Marco Rus having his shot blocked and Zuriel Otseh-Taiwo brought a sharp save from Thimothee Lo-Tutala, who tipped it wide of his goal.  However, it was Tottenham who scored again with a good passing move supplying Romaine Mundle to sweep home and it was almost 3-0 when Dane Scarlett was thwarted by goalkeeper Matt Hall with a double save.

The game went from end to end and Ryan Finnegan’s shot landed on the top of the Tottenham net, while Scarlett struck the upright at the other end, although the striker made it 3-0 by half-time with a header.

Scarlett was on the spot again, when he shot across the keeper for the fourth Spurs goal just after the clock ticked past the hour mark, completing his hat-trick ten minutes later glancing home a free-kick with his head.  A panic in the Saints defence brought about Tottenham’s sixth as a clearance hit Maksim Paskotsi and rebounded into the net.  Substitute Luke Pearce was denied twice by saves from Lo-Tutala and the rout was wound up when Scarlett scored his fourth goal in the final few minutes.

Under-18 Premier League     Home     Won     6-1.

The Tottenham Under-18s earned a big home victory of 6-1 over Southampton. Three goals in each half gave Matt Taylor’s team a win to get them back on track at Hotspur Way after some poor results.

Striker Kion Etete netted twice, J’Neil Bennett produced a fine solo goal, Yago Santiago scored his first goal for Spurs,  Nile John placed a precise drive out of the keeper’s reach and Chay Cooper returned to the side to find the net from the penalty spot to complete Tottenham’s scoring.

Southampton’s consolation arrived in the second half after a 15 minute stoppage by the referee when there was a heavy hailstorm and it was Lucas Defise who scored for the Saints in the final match for our Under-18s before the Covid-19 pandemic ended the season for them.

09.04.2011 Tottenham came from behind to equalise against a strong Southampton side at Spurs Lodge in the FA Premier Academy League. A Saints goal after 20 minutes gave them the lead, as Jake Sinclair took the ball around Miles to score, but Tottenham hit back when Jack Munns finished a one-on-one with the visiting goalkeeper leaving the score level at half-time.

While the first half had been a little cagey, the second was open with a chance at one end being followed by a chance at the other.  There were disallowed goals for both sides and Massimo Luongo hit a fierce shot against the post, but there was no further scoring and the side from the top of Group A had to settle for a point against Spurs.

Spurs Under-18s turned it on at Southampton to win 3-0 in their Premier Academy League match. There were a few chances that went begging for Spurs before Paul-Jose M’Poku scored from a free kick after 25 minutes.  A shot from Harry Kane struck the bar before Kudus Oyenuga took down a long ball and finished powerfully from the edge of the box with an hour on the clock.

Eight minutes later, Spurs hit Southampton on the break and M’Poku played Paul McBride through to hit the net with a left foot shot making the final score 3-0 to Tottenham.

Tottenham won through this Third Round FA Youth Cup tie with a single second half goal in a game of many chances.

Spurs opened up on the attack with a shot from Danny Rose, but a closer call came in the 15th minute, as David Hutton’s free-kick bounced down off the crossbar and out.  Butler saved from Paterson, before Pernecky had to tip over Dean Parrett’s deflected effort.

Tottenham were indebted to Butler when Leigh Mills sliced a volleyed clearance from a corner at his own goal and the keeper pushed it aside and Hutton completed the clearance on the far post.  Olsen drove a volley wide before nodding down Parrett’s cross for Rose to dive in and head wide. A flurry of yellow cards before the break saw Argent, Kasim and Imudia all enter the ref’s notebook, but once more the Spurs keeper kept Tottenham in it with a full length stop from McLaggon and as Paterson set up McNish, Butcher got back to get in the way of the goal-bound shot.

Turning round with no score on the board, Spurs set about attacking the home defence and Rose forced the Saints’ keeper to a save from distance, while the winger’s fierce cross shortly after was just too far ahead of Hutton to reach.  As Spurs pushed forward the SCBC defence got more desperate and a free-kick conceded on the edge of the area saw Berchiche curl it a foot wide.  Imudia prevented Livermore getting shot away as he controlled Parrett’s pass, but Danny Rose’s through pass freed Olsen on the hour to face the keeper one on one.  Pernecky stopped the Norwegian’s first effort, but he coolly took the ball down and slid the ball into the net to make it 1-0.

Three minutes later, Imudia fouled Parrett and saw yellow for the second time, so was dismissed and there was a brief flash of resistance, as White drove a shot at goal, but a deflection took it away for a corner.  After that, it was all Spurs, with Rose going close and Pernecky reacting quickly to palm away Livermore’s deflected shot.

Right at the end, substitute Jon Obika just failed to keep down his header from Parrett’s cross as the match finished with a Spurs win

Pekhart hit the target after 27 minutes to give Spurs the lead, but the Saints equalised five minutes before half-time, but Tottenham secured a winning lead when Pekhart seized on a defensive blunder and stuck the ball away on 52 minutes.

Spurs beat a Southampton side who were top of Group A in the FA Premier Academy League when Jacques Maghoma lobbed home off the crossbar for what turned out to be the winning goal in the first half.

Spurs were a little shaky in the first 10 minutes of the match, but a ball over the defence found Jacques Maghoma with only the keeper to beat and his lob hit the crossbar.  Fortunately for Tottenham, the So’ton keeper carried the ball over the line as he tried to save the rebound, then Jamie Davis broke through on the keeper, but put his shot just wide of the post.In the second half, Southampton had more possession, but Maghoma cut in from the left, but failed to beat the keeper and then David Hutton did the same.

16.12.1995 South-East Counties League Division 2     Away     Won     2-1

10.09.1988 Spurs Juniors suffered a heavy defeat away to Southampton, but the score-line did not reflect the balance of the game.

The size and experience of the home side weighed in their favour, but Spurs held them out for 25 minutes, when Hung Dang was fouled in the box, but the referee did not given Spurs the decision.  Three minutes afterwards, Spurs keeper Richard Eldridge was fouled and the Saints put the ball into the net, with the referee again failing to award the foul against Southampton.  The tide had obviously turned in the home team’s favour, with two more quick goals as Spurs tried to salvage something from the first half, with Martin McIntosh scoring just before the break to make it 3-1.

Despite the score-line and the struggle with the match officials, Spurs controlled the second half, as Hung Dang saw a 35 yard shot crash back out off the bar, Jamie Redknapp forced the Southampton keeper to a fine save and McIntosh went close to scoring his second.  However, with the way the game had been going, the home team scored two late breakaway goals to give the score-line a flattering look.
