- CLUB STATEMENTS : – The club have released a slew of statements following the escape from relegation. Roberto De Zerbi’s sounded exciting and grounded. Vinai Venkatesham’s was full of hidden blame without naming names saying that one thing that the hierarchy had discovered was that the training ground was like a “five star hotel”, implying the design had made it all a bit too comfortable. The Lewis Family’s statement echoed the CEO’s and contained a similar message that there had been more interest in aspects of the club other than the football side and that they do not intend to sell the club, but are committed to a re-build. Both Venkatesham and the owners said the problems were much worse than they thought, thus laying some blame on the previous board.
