18.10.2021<\/span><\/td>\nSpurs lost out by a single goal to West Ham in a high scoring, topsy-turvy Premier League 2 match at Broadhall Way.<\/span><\/p>\n

A seventh minute goal gave The Irons the lead when Josh Oluwayemi saved well from Oko-Flex, but the ball was cleared to Ekwah, who fired it back into the top corner\u00a0 That lead only lasted three minutes, as Matthew Craig picked out a good pass to Jack Clarke, who was tackled on the edge of the penalty area, with the ball running invitingly for Nile John to sweep a shot across the West Ham keeper into the opposite bottom corner of the net.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lead was then Tottenham’s when John slipped a pass through the West Ham defence for Alfie Devine to drill the ball home off the goal=post in the 17th minute.\u00a0 With the clock on 24 minutes, West Ham pulled level as Chesters hit a shot from wide of the goal that took a touch off a defender to luckily take it past Oluwayemi.\u00a0 Two minutes later they were in front as A right wing cross was touched on by Perkins before coming off Marqes Muir’s chest and into the goal.\u00a0 When Clarke was fouled by Alese, Nile John put the ball in the opposite corner to the goalkeeper’s dive to make it 3-3 in the 37th minute, but it was a penalty four minutes after half-time, given for a foul on Appiah-Forson by Tobi Omole that ended up winning the game, as Oko-Flex converted his spot-kick with Oluwayemi just failing to get enough on it to keep it out.<\/span><\/p>\n

West Ham had a few more chances, which they couldn’t take and Nile John fizzed a couple of long-range efforts just wide, but Spurs could not trouble the opponents’ goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n24.02.2009<\/span><\/td>\n		Spurs won this meeting with West Ham United at Bishops Stortford FC in the Premier League Reserve League thanks to an Adel Taarabt hat-trick.<\/span><\/p>\n

An early warning, when Junior Stanislas fired wide was not heeded by the Spurs defence and in the fifth minute, Anthony Edgar took Zavon Hines’ cross and put the ball past Alnwick at the post.\u00a0 However, without being involved for the first ten minutes, Taarabt got the ball in the middle of the pitch, ran at defenders – leaving them in his wake – and rifled a low shot into the bottom corner of the goal from the edge of the box past an unmoved Marek Stech in goal to make it 1-1.<\/span><\/p>\n

Two minutes after the goal, Irons defender Matthew Fry mis-contolled the ball and it ran to Kudos Oyenuga, who fired a shot into the side-netting.\u00a0 With 15 minutes gone, Taarabt hit a shot just wide from the edge of the box, as he was starting to enjoy himself and Ricardo Rocha joined the attack to head a corner at goal, only for Stech to keep his effort out.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Cian Hughton and Jacques Maghoma linked on the left to provide the French youngster with a shooting opportunity from 18 yards in the 18th minute, which Stetch put over the top, while Taarabt went close again a couple of minutes after.\u00a0 West Ham fought back into the game and when Tom Harvey passed to Edgar on the edge of the box, his shot from the edge of the six yard box in the 22nd minute was saved by Ben Alnwick.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

From a corner, Harvey’s effort on goal was stopped on the line by Danny Hutchins and then the Irons’ Stanislas hit a shot on goal in the 26th minute, with Alnwick needing to push it round after taking a couple of deflections before it got to him.\u00a0 Spurs came strong at the end of the half, with Yaser Kasim taking the ball on after the ref played an advantage for a foul on Taarabt, playing in Oyenuga to shoot too high and then Takura Mtandari got wide and crossed for Taarabt, but he could only shoot straight at Stech.\u00a0 There was still time for Hughton to go on a good run, but fired over the bar from 20 yards just before the break.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

West Ham had the first chance of the second half, with centre half Fry heading Stanilslas’ free-kick against the post on 48 minutes and on 75 minutes, Edgar was sent clear, only to be denied by Alnwick, who stood up well.\u00a0 West Ham substitute Daniel Kearns had a shot that went just wide of the post.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

But, seven minutes from time, Taarabt won the ball, ran at the Irons back four and from the edge of the box planted the ball into the bottom corner of the net.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

West Ham tried to get level with a Fry header that Alnwick did well to dive and palm out, but it was Taarabt who had the last word, firing home from the penalty spot in stoppage time after David Hutton had been brought down to seal the 3-1 win.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

03.11.2008<\/span><\/td>\nWest Ham United made the short trip to visit Brisbane Road in the Premier League Reserve League and Spurs won out 2-0.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Irons keeper was soon in action, with a third minute save as Kevin-Prince Boateng met a Charlie Daniels cross at the near post, but as play moved to the opposite end, Jacques Maghoma was in the right place to clear Widdowson’s low shot off the line after Reid had crossed from the left wing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Chances were created at both ends, with Boateng volleying over Gilberto’s eighth minute cross and West Ham hitting the side netting when Reid cut in from the left wing and struck a low 25-yard effort.\u00a0 A sharp finish to Gilberto’s saved shot in the 21st by Daniels was ruled out for offside and the first half finished goal-less.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Spurs changed things around and two minutes into the second period, Street had to be alert to push Hossam Ghaly’s shot from 25 yards out around the post.\u00a0 Another good chance was spurned in the 51st minute, as Boateng intercepted a back-pass and unselfishly laid the ball into the path of Kyle Fraser-Allen, who blasted over from 10 yards out.\u00a0 The goal came just a couple of minutes later, when a corner from the left wing dropped for Mtandari to stand up a cross into the heart of the penalty area and Boateng was first to it with his head.\u00a0 Street did well to stop the powerful header, but the rebound dropped to Charlie Daniels to tap in, without a linesman’s flag this time.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Five minutes later, Daniels was on the score-sheet again, getting the ball on the edge of the centre circle, taking on a couple of West Ham players and drilling a low shot into the left corner of the net to make it 2-0. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Paul Stalteri took on his marker on the right wing and put in a cross low to the near post ten minutes after the second goal, where Fraser-Allen mis-hit his shot, but got a second bite of the cherry and forced a good stop from Street, who was lucky in the 69th minute, when Hutton’s corner escaped Ghaly six yards out and was missed at the far post by Mtandari, who slipped over.\u00a0 It was West Ham’s turn to attack in the next minute, as Spence hit a hopeful high ball into the Spurs area and when Cesar came over Bajner to punch clear it only fell to Harvey, who hit his shot too high.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When Daniels fired in a low curving cross in the 71st minute, it was somehow missed by both Dervite and Mtandari and then West Ham broke with Harvey’s cross being put wide by Bajner, who glanced his header instead of getting some power on it.\u00a0 Another header two minutes from time saw Cesar make a fine save in glancing Lopez’s effort over the bar.\u00a0 The resulting corner was headed over by the same player and that was the last chance that saw Spurs take the spoils.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n25.02.2008<\/span><\/td>\n		The two London sides met at Leyton Orient FC and it was West Ham Reserves who took the points, winning 3-1 with a strong side.<\/span><\/p>\n

Spurs had the first couple of chances in the match, with Danny Rose rising to head Cian Hughton’s cross over the top and Simon Dawkins was played in by Jon Obika and he hit his shot just wide of the target.\u00a0 West Ham’s first chance came in the 17th minute, as Ashton put a header from six yards wide from Pantsil’s cross.\u00a0 Bobby Zamora almost tricked Hughton with a lob over his head, but he could not control his volley once he got the other side of the defender and Ashton once more won the ball in the air, this time near the penalty spot and it went a couple of feet past the post.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Somewhat against the run of play, Tottenham took the lead in the 34th minute.\u00a0 A free kick on the right was played in by Danny Rose and Troy Archibald-Henville jumped for it, but the ball swung straight into the net to give the winger the goal.\u00a0 A minute later, Dawkins and David Hutton linked up to allow the striker a shot on goal, but the players around him made it difficult for him to get any power in his shot and Walker saved easil<\/span><\/span>y.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Just before the interval, the Irons equalised when Freddie Sears capitalised on Reid’s complete air shot and finished Ashton’s cross with a low drove past Button to see the sides level at the break.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Joe Martin prevented Hines knocking in Sears low ball into the box and then Ashton failed to convert Pantsil’s cross, causing Button no problems to save.\u00a0 The Spurs keeper had to stretch to keep the ball out as Sears tried to lob him and in the 69th minute, the keeper was beaten when Sears provided Ashton with a chance that Ashton finally netted from inside the six yard box.\u00a0 It was only three minutes before it was 3-1 Stokes fed Sears and he took the ball on the run to slide it past the Button as he came out.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Parrett almost found Obika before Pantsil nudged the ball away, while late on Ryan Mason put a free-kick over the bar and then mis-hit a shot that Walker dropped on to make a comfortable stop and preserve the 3-1 score-line.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span><\/strong>It was a quick start by Tottenham who took a 2-0 lead within the first 17 minutes of the match.\u00a0 Captain Charlie Lee was playing in central midfield and his effect was immediate, with a run into the box to finish off Phil Ifil’s cross from 10 yards after good work from Adel Taarabt and David Hutton.\u00a0 Lee was instrumental in the second goal, winning the ball in midfield and then putting Hutton away to cross in for Jake Livermore to shoot home.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Taarabt hit<\/span><\/span> a 25 yard shot just wide and West Ham keeper Jimmy Walker denied Charlie Daniels’ effort after Emil Hallfredsson played him in.\u00a0 As the half came to an end, Ben Alnwick had to be on his toes to keep out Lee Hales’ shot.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>Shortly after the break, Alnwick stopped Lorcan Fitzgerald as he ran through one-on-one, but he was finally beaten when Freddie Sears reduced the deficit in the 59th minute.\u00a0 However, Spurs held out to win the game.<\/span><\/span>Teams :

Clarence Park staged this reserve meeting with West Ham on a Tuesday night that produced quite a few goal-scoring chances, but no goals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Willem Korsten, Ian Hillier and John Piercy all had chances, while Gavin Holligan missed West Ham\u2019s best chance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stephen Bywater did well to keep out efforts from Hillier and Ciaran Toner, with Walker denying Michael Ferrante and former Spurs youth midfielder Ludwig Norbert.\u00a0 Korsten saw a free-kick go over off the crossbar and with 15 minutes to go, Simon Davies hit the upright from 25 yards out.\u00a0 As the match reached the last five minutes, Ian Walker made a fine stretching save to keep out Ferrante\u2019s effort and then got back up to block Jimmy Bullard\u2019s follow-up to keep the score-sheet blank.<\/span><\/p>\n

West Ham had a lot of the ball in the early stages, but when Jason Dozzell latched onto Colin Calderwood’s header to shoot at goal, the momentum swung in Tottenham’s favour.\u00a0 A goal came shortly afterwards, with a foul on Jose Dominguez giving Andy Sinton the chance to fire home from the free-kick.\u00a0 A second goal followed quickly, as Ruel Fox put Paul Mahorn away on the wing and his cross picked out Dominguez for his first Spurs goal.\u00a0 It didn’t end there as Mahorn cut out a pass and then beat the keeper from 20 yards out to make it 3-0.<\/span><\/p>\n

A sloppy start to the second half brought Espen Baardsen into action to repel the West Ham efforts on goal, although Dozzell twice went close to adding to the Spurs score.\u00a0 Colin Calderwood picked up a yellow card to be sent off and a West Ham player was also dismissed.\u00a0 This opened the game up and the ball went from end to end, with the best chances falling to Mahorn and Fox, but it was West Ham who scored with 20 minutes remaining, forcing Spurs into a rear-guard action to see the game out.<\/span><\/p>\n

Paul Moran’s first half hat-trick blew the Irons away and gave Spurs a 3-1 lead at half-time.\u00a0 Dave McDonald hit his first goal of the season, pushing up from his defensive position, but a thigh strain forced him off with Peter Garland taking his place.\u00a0 While Spurs were re-organising the defence, West Ham took advantage and pulled two goals back to make it 4-3, but Spurs rounded off a fine display with Vinny Samways producing the opportunity for John Moncur to gleefully side-foot home Tottenham’s fifth goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Goals from Tony La Ronde and Ray Houghton gave West Ham a 2-0 half-time lead, but two second half Spurs goals levelled the final score at 2-2.
