1919 | A pivotal day in the history of North London football. Following World War 1, the re-commencement of League football had to be undertaken with voting to decide who was to play in Division 1. It was widely expected that Tottenham would win a berth in the top flight as they were the highest place team in Division 2 taking into account the relegation of clubs for fixing matches, but strings pulled behind the scenes changed the process and Arsenal were voted in at Tottenham’s expense. It was the most crucial chapter of a bitter rivalry that had started with the South London side’s move to Highbury. |

Tottenham scored two or more goals in the sixth away league game in a row for the first time since the run of games between May and September 2017. Tottenham have scored in all 27 Premier League matches under Ange Postecoglou so far, the best such run from a manager’s first game in the English top flight since Arthur Rowe in the 1950-51 season, when they won the title (scored in first 27 games). Heung-Min Son’s goal put him joint fifth with Cliff Jones in the all-time Spurs goal-scorers list with 159 goals. |
