  1. I live in Worcestershire and not being as mobile I have not yet visited the new stadium so rely on TV for coverage and experience. As a youngster I stood at the old White Hart Lane and watched with admiration the likes of Mackay, White, Gilzean, Ardilles and so many others. It saddens me to note the disarray the club has sunk too and cannot understand why Daniel Levy allows himself to be likened to the proverbial rabbit caught in the headlights not knowing which way to turn in the pursuit of a football manager. Apparently full due diligence has been conducted to arrive at the need for a young progressive coach with impeccable pedigree and on that basis alone for God’s sake make the effort to get Nagelsmann before it is too late. Anyone over 50 years of age should not enter the frame

    1. Hi Tony,
Yes, Spurs have been a right mess, appointing dinosaurs like Mourinho and Conte, who had both had their day. Not sure what went on behind the scenes with Nagelsmann, as they should have bitten his hand off, but maybe he is holding out for a “bigger” job. One of the problems we have is not being a trophy winning club and don’t spend shedloads of cash on new players every transfer window.
You are right in wanting a progressive coach and hopefully – even though over 50 – Postecoglou might be a bright, enlightened coach. Winning in Scotland isn’t the hardest thing (in fact when they talk about Kane wanting to win things, I don’t know why nobody mentions a move there), but he did seem to turn Celtic around and plays a decent brand of football. Patience is in short supply with fans and chairmen, so whether he will be given time to develop the “project”, who knows.
We have had so many brilliant players in our teams over the years, but haven’t been able to consolidate any success we have had (early 60’s, early 70s and early 80s excepted). I can’t see us ever challenging the likes of Man City (who have more money than anyone – £1 billion to win the Champions League) or Chelsea in terms of financial muscle, but maybe unearthing a manager who can get the best out of the players he gets in might be our best bet.
While I would have loved Pochettino to come back, perhaps it is for the best that he didn’t, although I would have preferred him going elsewhere other than Chelsea !
Hope you are well and as always, looking forward to a new chapter in Tottenham’s history. There have been enough of them !
      Take care
      Wyart Lane
